Little things

Little things

As we are soon approaching the end of spring, I sit still, outside, in what must be one of the last cool breeze of yet another season; the strong winds pushing last year's dead leaves, the few speckles of snow remaining on the ground, and the sight of flower buds around the city.

We feel ourselves changing with the season, as the sunny days are suddenly more accessible to us. I’m imagining myself walking around the streets, watching people breath in the warmer breeze and the summer weather, but I am home, still at home. I crack open the windows or every bedroom and my eyes embrace the movement of the curtains as the wind softly blows in.

Little things. These particles, these moments, they belong to us, and we ought to hold them tight for the rainy days. Every second we take to cherish the pretty sounds, the breathtaking images we see with our own eyes, they build our lives and we are the driver of its complexity.

And I'm still sitting still, in what must be one of the last cool breeze of the season, and I'll wait patiently for the next moment when I will be able to wander around and regain my freedom, the one I never really valued as I should have. I am sitting and waiting for the next little thing that will bring on the next smile, because the little things, are simply the biggest ones, and possibly the most magnificent; those that are priceless but of infinite value.

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving deep into the world of cinnamon lately and I gotta say, the debate between Ceylon vs Saigon cinnamon really caught my attention. If you’ve ever found yourself standing in the spice aisle wondering which cinnamon to choose, this post is for you.

So, what’s the deal between Ceylon and Saigon cinnamon? While they might seem like they’re just two variations of the same thing, they actually have some pretty distinct differences that can make or break a recipe! First up, Ceylon cinnamon, often called “true cinnamon,” is milder and more delicate in flavor. It’s less spicy than Saigon, making it perfect for sweeter dishes or if you’re someone who enjoys a more subtle cinnamon experience.

On the other hand, Saigon cinnamon is much bolder and spicier. It packs a punch with its intense, slightly sweet yet fiery flavor. This makes it ideal for those who love to add a bold cinnamon kick to their foods. However, there’s an important health consideration: Saigon cinnamon contains higher levels of coumarin, a compound that can be harmful in large amounts. This is something you should definitely keep in mind if you’re consuming a lot of cinnamon regularly.

As you can see, the Ceylon vs Saigon cinnamon debate isn’t just about flavor—it’s about health and what works best for your needs. Personally, I’ve been gravitating toward Ceylon cinnamon in my daily coffee and smoothies. But for some intense baking recipes, nothing beats the richness of Saigon.

What’s your go-to cinnamon? Let me know in the comments!

Hey there! I hope you’re all doing well.

I have to ask—have you ever thought about what’s really in the cinnamon you’re using every day? I didn’t either, until I started reading about lead contamination in cinnamon. It turns out, many brands of cinnamon contain harmful levels of lead, and we unknowingly consume it in our foods. It was a huge wake-up call for me, and I think it’s time we all started paying closer attention to the cinnamon we buy.

I want to share with you what I’ve learned about lead in cinnamon and how to avoid it. For a while, I had no idea that some cheaper cinnamon brands could contain lead, but as I researched, I found that lead is often found in Cassia cinnamon (the most common type). That’s right—the same cinnamon you might be sprinkling on your coffee could be dangerous!

But don’t worry; I’ve found a solution. There’s plenty of lead-free cinnamon available, and I’ve listed the best safe cinnamon brands for you to check out.

These brands prioritize your health by testing their products for lead, so you can enjoy all the benefits of cinnamon without the risk.

I know how important it is to find quality ingredients for my kitchen, and now I’m on a mission to share that knowledge with you. If you want to learn more about the dangers of lead in cinnamon and find out which brands are completely safe, head over to my blog. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this crucial information! Stay safe and healthy!
